Mineral Wells, WV (10/05/2012) – This weekend’s forecast for colder temperatures and precipitation has forced the cancellation of the American Dirt Racing Association’s (ADRA) “Dirt Master Championship”. West Virginia Motor Speedway’s (WVMS) Track management in conjunction with ADRA officials made the decision to cancel the event Thursday evening.

“Based on the precipitation and temperatures forecasted for Saturday, Rocky Estep (race director, ADRA) and I have decided it is in the fan’s and racer’s best interest to cancel the ADRA “Dirt Master Championship”, said WVMS track president Lynn Chapman. “There have been several racers and fans show interest in this event who will have to travel a long distance to get here. We want to make sure they have plenty of time to make alternative plans to either race or spectate. I hate that we have to cancel the race this weekend, I felt like we really were going to have a special event.”

The cancellation of the October 6th event ends the 2012 season at WVMS. Donnie Moran won the inaugural September 16th event on WVMS’s new configuration.

“I feel confident that with the new track management and staff in place, we’ll raise the bar in 2013 for fans and racers. I’m excited about the schedule we’re going to have in place for next year. It will return this track back to form and where it should be.” said Chapman.

The 2013 track schedule for WVMS will be finalized and announced in the coming months.
